The transnational theoretical development work of childism necessarily involves questions of languages and translations: how, and indeed whether, the English term childism in its positive sense should be translated, and what conceptual as well as socio-political implications different choices may carry.
This colloquium brings together scholars working in English, Portuguese, Italian, and French to present and discuss different proposals for translation and the considerations surrounding them. An opening plenary in English will introduce the discussions across the four languages, followed by language-specific breakout sessions conducted in English, Portuguese, Italian, and French, and a closing plenary bringing their insights into dialogue.
The colloquium is hosted by Monique Voltarelli (University of Brasília) and Maura Tripi (LUMSA University Palermo), Co-Directors of the Childism Institute.
